Optical Materials

Barium Fluoride (BaF2) Crystals

Barium Fluoride is transparent from the ultraviolet (UV) to the infrared (IR) from 0.200 to 14.0 µm, and is used to make optical components, such as windows for infrared spectroscopy. Our standard sizes range from 5.0mm to 100mm diameter, however larger sizes and cuts are available upon request.

Calcium Fluoride (CaF2) Single Crystal

Our standard sizes range from 5.0mm to 190mm diameter however, larger sizes are available upon request. We offer CaF2 blanks and components in a variety of crystal orientations, <111>, <100>, random or other orientations upon request.

Crystalline Quartz (SiO2)

Crystalline quartz is an anisotropic monoaxial crystal with a repeating arrangement of SiO2 tetrahedra, located spirally to the main axis of the crystal and twisting in the right or left directions depending on the initial orientation of the seed that is used in the growth process.

Barium Fluoride (BaF2): High-Purity Deposition Materials

Fairfield Crystal Technology’s evaporation chemicals for optical coating are produced to a consistent high quality and purity. Our deposition materials are 99.999% pure. They evaporate cleanly and completely, without out-gassing or spitting and leave a hard, uniform coating on the substrate.

Lithium Fluoride (LiF)

Lithium Fluoride is a cubic crystal that transmits very well into the extreme UV region at the hydrogen Lyman-alpha line (121 nm) and well into the IR spectrum.

Magnesium Fluoride (MgF2) Crystal

MgF2 transmits well into the VUV region at the Lyman-alpha line (121nm) and beyond. Our standard sizes range from 5.0mm to 120mm diameter, however larger sizes and orientations are available upon request.

Sapphire Crystal (Al203)

Sapphire crystal is a transparent form of Aluminum Oxide ( Al2O3). With its’ excellent mechanical, thermal and optical properties the crystal is especially well suited for optics and optoelectronics that are required to operate in extremely harsh environments.

Silicon (Si)

Fairfield Crystal’s silicon windows (Si) are manufactured from optical grade silicon and are designed to be used in precision optical systems for the 1.2 - 7µm spectral region. Due to its low cost and low density silicon is ideal for weight sensitive applications.

Zinc Selenide (ZnSe)

With the crystal lattice that consists of alternating layers of zinc and selenium atoms, as well as a wide and direct bandgap of approx. 2.7 eV, the crystal is particularly well suited for high power CO2 lasers. Our proprietary process of producing doped ZnSe material, allows us to provide optical parts that can find their use in a development of new generation optical elements in a variety of industries.

Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) Broadtran®

Our Zinc Sulfide crystals are being used as an IR optical material, transmitting from visible wavelengths to approximately 14 micrometers. We produce large grain crystal material that reduces scattering and offers low absorption making it an ideal crystal for FLIR and other IR applications.
